Early morning storms cause power outages and damage in mid-Michigan

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The Board of Water and Light is currently reporting power outages throughout Lansing.

The outage map shows over 1,900 customers are experiencing power outages. The website estimates power should be restored around 5:35 a.m.

Consumers Energy reports over 7,822 customers are experiencing power outages northeast of Lansing, near Lainsgburg.

The storms have also caused flooding and damages across mid-Michigan. A tree fell on top of multiple power lines and a vehicle at the 200 block of Rita St. and Jewell Ave.

6 News had a crew on the scene when firefighters said they advised people to avoid the area after seeing sparks from the lines.

Next, the 6 News crew went to the 2500 block of Lake Lansing Rd., where a tree fell and broke through a wall at an apartment complex.
