Lansing police responded at around 7:07 p.m. and closed the northbound lanes for about two hours while crews worked to remove the truck from beneath the bridge, known lovingly as “Penny” or “The Barber” by Lansing locals.

Police say the semi-truck was traveling northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue Monday evening when it got jammed underneath the bridge.

The bridge has a posted clearance of 12 feet and several signs posted beforehand to advise drivers whether or not their vehicle is too tall to pass under the bridge.

A tow truck driver on the scene told 6 News that this is the eighth time this year they were called out to help with removing a truck from underneath the bridge.
