HOWELL — A Lansing trio was arrested after a high-speed chase early Saturday morning through Livingston County in a stolen vehicle.

Deputies with Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said they saw a Dodge Challenger reported stolen out of Grand Rapids on eastbound Interstate 96, near M-59, at about 7:30 a.m. during their normal patrols.

When they attempted to stop the vehicle, it raced away, exited the highway and then returned to the freeway at Latson Road, where deputies said they lost sight of the vehicle before ending the chase that had reached up to 125 mph.

A state trooper then spotted the vehicle on I-96 and later, Brighton police saw the Dodge Challenger on Grand River Avenue.

Brighton police tried to pull over the vehicle, but it fled again, leading police into Hartland Township. Police again lost sight of the vehicle.

But a tipster called 911, deputies said, to report the Dodge Challenger was near Washington Street and Hibner Road in the Village of Hartland. Another tipster gave a description to authorities of three people walking away from the Challenger.

A deputy approached them from behind a garage, and deputies said the suspects ignored commands to stop and advanced toward the deputy.

”At this time, a second vehicle arrived to pick up the occupants," deputies said in the release. "Back-up officers arrived and were able to take the subjects in custody.”

Deputies said the Dodge Challenger's driver was a 29-year-old Lansing man facing charges of fleeing and eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and child abuse. A 26-year-old man from Lansing also is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 58-year-old Lansing woman, faces a charge of operating without insurance, deputies said.
