Thanks for reading Prepapalooza, our weekly high school sports newsletter featuring our top stories.

It has been a busy week on the diamond.

The eight-team Greater Lansing Hall of Fame Softball Classic took place this week and ended with Grand Ledge adding to its strong spring and hoisting the championship trophy for the first time since 2005 on Friday evening at Ranney Park.

Grand Ledge knocked off defending champion Leslie while breaking through to win the event for the first time since current coach Allison Miller was playing in the program.

The CAAC Blue champion Comets also knocked off CAAC Red champion Williamston in its opener and then Fowlerville in the semifinal of the Softball Classic while adding another title to its collection this spring.

Less than two miles away from Ranney Park, some of Greater Lansing's top baseball teams spent the last week battling to continue their journeys in the 62nd annual Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic

And in a tournament that has featured some thrilling games, DeWitt, Grand Ledge, Holt and Williamston are the teams that have landed spots in next week's semifinals at Michigan State's McLane Stadium. DeWitt, Williamston and Holt each beat league champions this week to put themselves among the final four left in the tourney.

That action on the diamond highlighted another busy week of competition taking place in Greater Lansing as we head into the final few weeks of the Michigan High School Athletic Association sports season. The state tournaments are currently under way in girls soccer and boys and girls lacrosse.

Here's a look at some of our top stories from the last week.
