LANSING - The annual Michigan Old US 27 Motor Tour kicked off this week, making a stop Thursday in St. Johns.

The convoy of vintage automobiles makes 13 stops on its way from Coldwater to Cheboygan. The six-day trek, which included staying overnight in DeWitt on Wednesday, began on Monday and is expected to arrive in Cheboygan on Saturday.

Stan and Mary Ann Lesko of Ashley were among hundreds of vehicles involved.

“We just love this cruise,” Mary Ann Lesko said. “You bond with people, you see people all over the place. It’s cooler than cool.”

Mary Ann Lesko showed off her classic, a 1964 Ford Thunderbird, acknowledging after showing the vintage vehicle that “It’s a girly car.”

Stan brought his own car, a 1959 Ford Galaxy.

The tour, which is held the third week in August each year, is in its 18th year.
