    1 teen dead, another critically injured in Ionia County crash

    KEENE TWP. – A 15-year-old girl is dead and another teen is in critical condition after a single vehicle crash in Ionia County.

    A car driven by a Saranac girl, 16, was moving east in the 10000 block of Sayles Road northwest of Saranac about 2:11 p.m. Friday before leaving the road and striking a tree, the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

    A 15-year-old girl whose name was not immediately released was killed in the crash, the sheriff’s office said. A 17-year-old girl was transported to a hospital in Grand Rapids with critical injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

    The crash remains under investigation.

    The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Saranac Fire and Rescue, Ionia County Victim Advocates Team, Life Ambulance and Reed and Hoppes Towing.
