Detroit Pistons vs. Phoenix Suns: Time, TV, ticket info for exhibition at Breslin Center

When you're a diehard Michigan State basketball fan and former player and you own an NBA team, what do you do? Bring them together, of course!

We're of course talking about Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia, who spent his collegiate days as a walk-on for Tom Izzo, including on the 2000 national title winning team.

Ishbia agreed to a deal to buy the Suns back in 2022 and has been a big part of NBA discourse since with his push-in-all-the-chips approach and his tendency to say exactly what he's thinking.

Tuesday's exhibition will actually be a matchup of two owners who graduated from MSU, as Tom Gores also went to school in East Lansing.

When the game was announced last month, Izzo said it was a great for the MSU community.

“Having an NBA game on campus featuring two Spartan alums as owners shows the power of Michigan State and the talent and quality of people that come from our great University," Izzo said in the statement. "It’s an honor to call Tom Gores a friend and everyone knows the special bond I share with Mat having coached him as a former player in our program. I’m excited for the game and the opportunity to showcase NBA basketball to our MSU basketball fans and everyone here in the East Lansing community.”

Suns guard Devin Booker is also a Michigan native and frequently reps Detroit and should be set to play in East Lansing, barring an injury.

Pistons vs. Suns injury report preseason game

Pistons' Ausar Thompson has not been cleared for contact (blood clot) after missing last season's final 19 games; rookie Bobi Klintman missed last game with a calf contusion . Tobias Harris also missed Sunday's preseason game because of an illness.

Suns guard Grayson Allen has been ruled out of Tuesday's game for personal reasons, while center Jusuf Nurkic is day-to-day and is set to be evaluated in a week.
