A Walk in the Park is an ongoing series from State Journal photographer Nick King, who intends to explore Lansing area parks one hour at a time. If you have a suggestion of a park he should visit, email him at nking@lsj.com.

This story has been updated to correct a misspelling.

Esker Landing, located at 1694 Cedar Street in Holt, is a park featuring lake and trail access. The 15-acre park in Delhi Township is the perfect spot for launching your kayak, dropping a line or hitting the bike trails.

Esker Landing features Cedar Lake, which is home to various species of fish including perch, blue gill, crappie, bass and walleye. You can fish off shore, at a dock or from a non-motorized boat. On the lake shore there's a large EZ Launch ADA accessible kayak and canoe launch. If you don't have a watercraft you can rent a kayak from a kiosk for $20 for two hours.

The park is also a place where you can hop on the Valhalla Trail or the Hayhoe Riverwalk for a nature walk or for a longer bike ride. In addition to the trails and the lake, Esker Landing features open grassy areas for play or a picnic, typical Michigan wildlife like deer and various bird species and area of thick woods and other foliage which is currently showing fall colors. There's a covered pavilion, a bike rack and bike repair station and a spot for fishing line recycling.

There are permanent bathrooms and a nice-sized parking lot on site. Leashed dogs are welcome. There's no swimming allowed in the lake.
