32nd annual Swim Across America raises money for cancer research

Hundreds of residents gathered Saturday to participate in the 32nd annual Swim Across America in Larchmont. The fundraiser features 10K, 5K, 2K and half-mile swimming options. Officials say money from

the event contributes to cancer research groups. "All the funding that we raise goes towards our beneficiaries that are local right here in our New York area,” said Jean Fufidio, event director for Swim Across America Long Island Sound. “Twenty percent of our funding is earmarked for pediatric cancer research." Seven swimming events are also scheduled to take place at pools in Westchester between July and August. "
