Washington and Lee University professor of art history Elliott King was featured in a July 18, 2024 segment of the popular NPR show “All Things Considered.”. The roughly two-minute segment played an interview with King from an earlier NPR article titled “An AI Salvador Dalí will answer any question when called on his famous ‘lobster phone.’” The article and subsequent radio segment focused on how the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to allow visitors to ask questions of the famed surrealist artist who died in 1989. Named “Ask Dalí,” this new museum installation features a copy of Dalí’s famous Lobster Telephone sculpture which visitors can pick up and ask a question. Dali’s AI-generated voice will respond with an answer using generative AI technology.
St. Pete ranks among best cities for new homeowners
July 25, 2024 - Despite the ongoing affordable housing crisis, St. Petersburg placed 16th among midsize cities on WalletHub’s annual list of the “best cities for first-time home buyers.” The personal finance platform analyzed 300 cities across 22 "key indicators" of market attractiveness, affordability and quality of life to determine its rankings. See lightning strike the Residences at 400 Central in St. Petersburg
Lightning struck what is expected to be the tallest residential tower on Florida’s west coast as afternoon and evening thunderstorms rolled through the area on Wednesday. Several photos and videos provided to the Tampa Bay Times show lightning striking the top of the construction site located at 400 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg at about 5 p.m. Red Apple Development and Suffolk Construction broke ground on the location, which is called The Residences at 400 Central, more than two years ago.
