Troop 163 Receives Jamestown Community Foundation Grant
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Community Foundation has recently awarded a $2,500 grant to Troop 163 of the Jamestown Boy Scouts for assistance towards the purchase of a new trailer/equipment. The local Scouts use the trailer and equipment for their trips to the regional camps and Jamborees around the country, and their current trailer is in dire need of replacement. This grant will bring them very close to their fund raising goal for the project.
Pride of Dakota Days Planned at Minot State Fair
The 36th Annual Pride of Dakota Day will take place next week at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot on Monday, July 22nd. Administered by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, the Pride of Dakota Program helps support over 500 different companies throughout the state through marketing, promotional events and educational opportunities.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (CCHD) – Did you know that high cholesterol doesn’t have any symptoms? Many people don’t know their levels are high. The only way to know whether you have high cholesterol is to get your cholesterol checked through a blood test. Your test results will show your cholesterol levels. Total cholesterol and HDL (good) cholesterol are among numerous factors your health care professional can use to predict your lifetime or 10-year risk for a heart attack or stroke. Your provider will also consider other risk factors, such as age, family history, smoking status, diabetes and high blood pressure. Tests can also find signs of high blood glucose (sugar) levels, which are important to check as nearly 1 in 2 adults have pre-diabetes or diabetes.

ND Country Fest Brings Tens of Thousands to New Salem
North Dakota Country Fest brought tens of thousands of people to the small town of New Salem over the weekend. The North Dakota Highway Patrol said it was the busiest weekend on the state’s highways due to the festival, eclipsing 4th of July and Memorial Day weekends. Headliners included Dierks Bentley, Clint Black, Diamond Rio, and Riley Green. The festival will be back next year in the small town of just over 1,000 residents, with organizers announcing Sam Hunt and Cole Swindell performing in 2025. Swindell said on his Facebook page that he was already looking forward to playing there next summer.
Grand Forks parking ramp closed after concrete fell onto vehicle
GRAND FORKS, ND — The Grand Forks County parking ramp will be closed starting Monday after a chunk of concrete fell and damaged a car. No one was hurt. City workers say vibrations from ongoing renovation work on the structure likely caused the concrete to break and fall. The garage will remain closed until October.
