Ex-Super Bowl champion makes accusation about NFL reporters in locker room

Former two-time Super Bowl champion Torrey Smith has made an accusation about NFL reporters in the locker room.

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is trying to get rules changes about the media’s presence in team locker rooms. The X account for the NFLPA on Friday shared a post discussing the matter. The post says the NFLPA has been in talks with the Pro Football Writers of America on coming up with a new policy for locker room interviews.

The players want interviews to occur outside the locker room rather than inside the locker room, where players are often getting undressed and changing clothes.

Smith, who won Super Bowls with the Ravens and 49ers, responded to the post via X. Smith called many male reporters “awkward” and accused several of looking at the private parts of players.

“If only y’all knew how awkward some of the male reporters act. Straight meat watchers,” Smith wrote on X.

Smith isn’t the only person in favor of a policy change who commented on the matter Friday. San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk also blasted a reporter in reponse to the matter.

The media has long had access to players inside locker rooms, which allows them to conduct interviews and produce stories they might not otherwise be able to generate. It’s no surprise the writers organization is digging in about the matter. They just might need to send another reminder to reporters about professionalism and keeping their eyes up.
