Nick Castellanos’ heroics on Sunday against the New York Mets were great for the Philadelphia Phillies. But they didn’t exactly help out his brother.

Castellanos had three of the Phillies’ biggest hits in a 7-6 win over the Mets in Game 2 of their NLDS series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa.

The first one came in the bottom of the 6th inning when the two-time All-Star hit a home run to knot the game at 3-3.

After Castellanos’ solo shot, his brother Ryan Castellanos posted on X about why the big hit was bittersweet for him. Ryan, a bartender by trade, was thrown into the eye of the storm at the bar he was working at during the game.

“They say hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do,” shared Ryan. “But lemme (sic) tell you trying to bartend when your brother ties the game with a homer in the NLDS is not too far behind.”

Nick Castellanos later delivered the walk-off RBI single in the 9th. It was a huge moment of redemption for the Phillies slugger after getting booed by his home fans earlier in the game.

The scene at Ryan’s bar was surely much more frantic after the game-winning hit as everyone celebrated the night away. Ryan didn’t even make a follow-up post, probably because of all the drinks he had to serve up and the congratulations he had to respond to.

But Ryan would likely choose the same outcome 10 times over, especially if the same patrons expressed their gratitude to the Castellanos family via the tip jar.
