Troy Aikman had to correct himself regarding Taylor Swift while calling the Kansas City Chiefs-New Orleans Saints game on “Monday Night Football.”

The Chiefs were leading 13-7 and had the ball at the New Orleans 18 with 27 seconds left in the first half. Patrick Mahomes completed a 1st-and-10 pass to Travis Kelce, who gained 8 yards on the play before going out of bounds.

After showing a replay, ESPN then flashed to Swift, who was shown clapping in support of Kelce.

Aikman, who was calling the game for ESPN along with Joe Buck, interrupted his analysis of the play to comment on ESPN showing Swift.

“The mrs. likes it,” Aikman said before going back to talk about Kelce’s play.

After the next play, Buck addressed Aikman’s comment.

“You know they’re not married,” Buck told Aikman, regarding Swift and Kelce.

“Oh, I know. I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that,” Aikman said with some laughs.

The two announcers corrected the record before anybody could get outraged.

Yes, Swift and Kelce have been dating since last year but are not married. Describing Swift as Kelce’s wife probably wouldn’t have gone over well with Swift’s fans, but luckily the announcers caught the issue before long.
