Russell Wilson takes big step toward returning to Steelers

Quarterback Russell Wilson may soon be able to suit up for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time.

Wilson was listed as a full participant in practice on Wednesday for the first time since the start of the season. The quarterback had previously been practicing on a limited basis due to a lingering calf issue.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin now has a decision to make. Justin Fields has been the starter for Pittsburgh with Wilson hurt, and while he got off to a 3-0 start, the team has now lost two in a row. Plus, Fields has not been completely convincing throughout his run as starter. In five games, he has thrown for 961 yards with five touchdowns and an interception while rushing for three scores.

Before Wilson’s injury flared up, he was viewed as the starter. Tomlin has not explicitly said so , but there is not really any reason to believe that will change now.
