Raiders refusing to make 1 compromise in Davante Adams trade?

The Las Vegas Raiders have been in contact with teams about potential trades involving Davante Adams, but their refusal to make one compromise could result in the star wide receiver remaining right where he is.

Adams signed a 5-year, $140 million extension with the Raiders after they acquired him from the Green Bay Packers in 2022. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported on Sunday that the Raiders are “adamant” about not eating any of the money they owe Adams to help facilitate a trade.

“I’ll tell you this, compensation remains a holdup as does the contract,” Garafolo said. “The Raiders are adamant they don’t want to pay a dime of the contract if they move Adams to another team.”

Adams’ base salary for this season is $16.89 million. Any team that acquired him in a trade would have to pay the pro-rated remainder of that. The 31-year-old is also under contract for $36.25 million in 2025 and 2026.

The Raiders are said to be seeking a high draft pick plus additional compensation for Adams. Teams would almost certainly be more willing to trade a high pick if they had to make less of a financial commitment to Adams, but that does not appear to be on the table at the moment.

Adams will miss his third consecutive game on Sunday because of a hamstring injury. Many people believe it is inevitable that he will be traded to one particular team .
