The Miami Marlins will leave no stone unturned in their search for a new manager.

Ely Sussman of Marlins outlet Fish On First reported on Friday that the Marlins will consider Alyssa Nakken for their open manager position. Nakken is currently an assistant coach for the San Francisco Giants.

The 34-year-old Nakken has been a big history-maker to this point of her coaching career. In 2020, Nakken became the first full-time female coach in MLB history. She also interviewed for the Giants’ manager position in 2023, making her the first woman ever to get an MLB managerial interview.

As for the Marlins, they are looking for a new skipper after parting with Skip Schumaker following two seasons in charge (including one playoff berth). Nakken may have a point in her favor due to her familiarity with Marlins assistant GM Gabe Kapler, the former manager of the Giants. But Miami will likely cast a very wide net in their managerial search, especially after completely cleaning house with several other coaches as well .

John Henry pissed someone beat him to the punch! Not necessarily because it would be the first they/them/she/her manager. It’s that she’ll probably work for a $200K
