Malik Nabers responds to critics over his concussion protocol behavior

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers responded to those who criticized his decision to attend a concert while stile being in concussion protocol.

Nabers raised some eyebrows last week after he was seen attending a Travis Scott concert at MetLife Stadium while still working his way through the concussion protocol. That raised some questions about whether the rookie wide receiver should have been exposing himself to that sort of light and noise, especially since he had missed the previous week’s game because of the injury.

On Friday, Nabers addressed the critics by saying it was no one else’s business what he did with his free time. He added that he was not experiencing any concussion symptoms at the time of the show, and that he had informed Giants doctors in advance of his plans to attend.

“I mean that’s my business,” Nabers said, via Zach Braziller of the New York Post . “What I do outside this facility has nothing to do with what the media thinks or whatever they got going on, so that’s my business.

“I said I’ve been playing loud music since after the concussion in the car. I go out with the lights on. I play the game with lights. So, I didn’t have anything with lights. It wasn’t making my head hurt. The sound wasn’t making my head hurt, so I was fine.”

Coach Brian Daboll did not exactly seem thrilled with the receiver’s concert decision, but clearly it did not come as a surprise to the team.

Nabers has since cleared concussion protocol and is poised to return Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft has 35 catches for 386 yards and 3 touchdowns through four games.
