After a Slow Start, the Cubs' Jed Hoyer is Really Cooking

Some of Scott Boras' clients just lost some leverage.
After a slow start to the offseason, the Cubs have added potential three pieces to their 2024 team. The additions include a starting pitcher, a reliever and a first/third baseman/DH. Color me impressed.
Shoto Imanaga got the ball rolling.
The Cubs went into the offseason looking for some depth in their starting rotation. Preferably a front of the rotation starter. While Imanaga may not be a top of the rotation guy, he generally figures to slot in at anywhere from 2–4 in the Cubs rotation. It also appears the Cubs got him at a relatively good price, considering the market.
The came bullpen help and a left-handed bat via a trade with the Dodgers
The Cubs picked up a bullpen piece in Yency Almonte and a left-handed bat in Michael Busch. The cost was two prospects, left-handed pitcher, Jackson Ferris and outfielder Zyhir Hope. While Ferris in particular is highly regarded it looks to be a good move for the Cubs.
As for Michael Busch, he comes with a bat first profile. He’s played some second base, but with Nico Hoerner installed as the Cubs second baseman, Busch is unlikely to find much work there.
However, Busch has played some at first and third base. Both are positions of need for the Cubs. There has also been some question about who will DH for the Cubs. Michael Busch figures to plug one of those holes.
And there’s a domino effect.
The acquisition of Busch makes Chris Morel more expendable. Morel could be used as a piece for pitching help, or perhaps another corner infielder or center fielder.
The Cubs farm system has been top heavy with outfielders, adding Busch helps some pieces fall in place.
Scott Boras’ clients just lost some leverage.
The Cubs have been linked to three of Scott Boras’ clients, Matt Chapman, Cody Bellinger and Rhys Hoskins. Some Cubs fans dreamed of the Cubs signing all three of those guys. That’s very unlikely to happen now.
The addition of Busch lessens the need of Hoskins, and/or Chapman. While Cody Bellinger profiles as the free agent the Cubs could use the most, the addition of Busch may make it easier for the Cubs to roll with Pete Crow-Armstrong as their opening day center fielder.
While I look for the Cubs to do more, if push came to shove, the Cubs look to compete for the NL Central. Cubs fans can come off the ledge now.
Hoyer is a complete failure. Tom Ricketts is a billionaire idiot! Combined it's AAA baseball in the second most expensive park in MLB. Don't go to games consistently and show these pathic idiots that your not supporting their idiocy . LARGE MARKET BULL💩

This Author, Larry E. Lambert is taking a page from the Chicago Bears playbook by selling bad moves, failure and compromise over big moves & winning that fans expect from a major market team in the Cubs. Not signing Matt Chapman and/or Rhys Hoskins because you sign a minor league, unproven kid is a Failure. Not signing Bellinger because you intend to play, Hope and pray that PCA will...may...hopefully become who Cody Bellinger is now, is a Failure. Trading Morel will also be a massive mistake that will haunt the Cubs for the next 8 - 10 yrs. It's time for the Cubs to act like the 3rd largest market MLB team they are and sign proven, quality big league players with the intent to win Now.
