New Mexico State soccer (2-0-1) defeated Oregon (2-1) 2-1 at home on Thursday evening. It was the Aggies' first win over the Ducks and their first win against a power-four conference opponent.

Senior defender Ariana Leamons opened the scoring with a shot in the 28th minute. Sophomore forward Shila Rasoul was credited with the assist. Oregon equalized two minutes later with a goal from Haley McWhirter. A foul in the 37th minute gave senior midfielder and former Ducks player Brooke Schultz a free kick from outside the 18-yard box. She converted to restore the NM State lead at 2-1.

Oregon would get another chance to equalize in the 55th minute, but a save from redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Valerie Guha denied it with her second save of the match. The Aggies prevailed, extending their unbeaten streak to 11 games dating back to the 2023 season.

NM State is now 1-0-1 against Big Ten opponents this year, and will face another in Washington later this season. The Aggies face Texas A&M-Commerce (1-1) at home next on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
