New Mexico State junior running back Monte Watkins has feeling in all of his extremities after leaving the Aggies' game against Jacksonville State in an ambulance, NM State sports information director Michael Navarrette told the Gadsden Times.

Watkins took a hard hit from a JSU defender after dropping, and then fumbling a direct snap on a trick play in the second quarter. He was strapped to a board and loaded onto an ambulance after staying down on the field for several minutes, and appeared to have a neck injury. Watkins will not return.

Watkins had two carries for 14 yards against the Gamecocks before he got injured. He has 52 rushing yards on 14 carries and two catches for 69 yards and one touchdown this season.

Currently, the Aggies (1-4, 0-2 Conference USA) are trailing the Gamecocks (2-3, 1-0 CUSA) 33-6 on the road at halftime.

This is a developing story. Updates will be made as they come in.
