    Local MMA fighter Alex Polizzi loses PFL debut in Las Vegas

    Beloit native Alex Polizzi and Bellator MMA fighter held on as long as possible, but was finally knocked out in the first round by Impa Kasanganay Fright night in the main event of the Professional Fighters League in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Light heavyweight Kasanganay took charge in the first round of the PFL 2 event at The Theater at Virgin Hotel. He knocked Polizzi down (10-4), but the Beloit fighter was able to get up. Kasanganay then landed several more shots before the referee stepped in to stop the fight at 3:29. Polizzi didn’t go down, but was slumped against the cage.

    With the victory, defending champion Kasanganay (16-4) earned six points in the PFL Light Heavyweight Tournament.

    In addition to Kasanganay, Rob Wilkinson (18-2), Josh Silveira (13-2), Antonio Carlos Jr. (16-5) and Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov (22-7-1) all posted first-round wins.
