    Bike race to impact roads in the southwest this weekend

    Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) –Drivers hoping to head out and enjoy a drive or hike in the rural southwest part of the valley are being warned of restrictions and closures for a bike race happening this Sunday.

    Sunday is day of the the L’Etape Las Vegas by Tour De France Bike Race, and the following restrictions for drivers will be in place:

    SR-159 will be closed to vehicle traffic in both directions from Desert Foothills Dr. down to SR-160 from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Las Vegas Metro Police will escort local traffic to and from residences during the closure. Drivers will not be able to access the Red Rock Scenic Loop or nearby hiking trails during that time.

    The westbound lanes of SR-160 will be closed between the junction with SR-159 and mile marker 27 (near Sandy Valley Rd) from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    Nevada State Police Highway Patrol will conduct a pilot car operation to maintain both directions of traffic flow using the eastbound travel lanes. Drivers should expect major delays.
