Macy Chiasson’s elbow certainly left a mark on Mayra Bueno Silva’s face.

Chiasson drilled Bueno Silva’s forehead with a brutal left elbow while they were grappling during the second round of their UFC 303 fight Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, leaving the latter with a gruesome gash that forced the fight to be stopped.

Chiasson won by TKO as a result.

After the two fighters got back to their feet, blood poured down her face and referee Chris Tognoni called a timeout so that the ringside physician could inspect her.

The physician suggested to stop the fight because the cut was “too deep,” and Tognoni subsequently waved it off.

Bueno Silva pleaded for the fight to continue, and when it was stopped she jumped out of the cage and had an animated conversation with UFC CEO Dana White.

“It feels good to leave the cage tonight with a win, but not quite the way I wanted to,” Chiasson said on the broadcast after the fight. “It was an awesome elbow, but no one really wants to get out of a fight not feeling fulfilled completely.

“I wish we could’ve done a little bit more, but the ref did a good job by stopping it and I think it was appropriate.”

Still, Chiasson believes she made a statement to the rest of the bantamweight division.

“I can stand, I can go to the ground, we can wrestle, we can do jiu-jitsu, I can throw elbows and guard,” Chiasson said. “I just think I showed them that I’m a complete fighter.”
