Teddy Swims reflects on ‘manifesting’ his own success with ‘Lose Control’

It was one year ago that singer-songwriter, Teddy Swims , saw his music career reach new heights with the release of “Lose Control.” The song ultimately earned him his very first #1 and one year later he joined fans from Las Vegas Mix 94.1 and KLUC to reflect on his success.

“When the song was written, we knew immediately, ‘this is life changing,’ I felt in my bones this was really gonna do something,” Swims told Mix 94.1’s Mercedes of the feeling the song gave him from the very beginning. Mixed with lots of hard work and a good team helping him promote it every chance they got, Swims said he found the perfect recipe for success as he watched it skyrocket up the charts.

“The beautiful thing about this song… we went and truly worked this song.” He shared. “Every place that would let us go in and play the song, every radio station that would have us, any interview — we didn’t say no to anything. We went and did it the old fashioned way and worked the song.”

He added, “It wasn’t a TikTok algorithm or trend that really took it off — it was that we were there in every spot with boots on the ground making the song work.”

Following all the hard work, Swims got to experience the fruits of his labor with his team by celebrating the number one in Vegas and a fancy new accessory.

“It was beautiful,” he shared of earning the top spot alongside his team. “Me and my manager Luke bought these cute little Cartier tank watches which is a super old, classy watch. We bought each other one for it going #1. That was the first expensive thing I let myself buy, truly.”

While definitely taking moments to soak up the success, Swims says no one seems to enjoy his new status more than his mom, who has become well-known across his fan base as he regularly dedicates a cover of Shania Twain ’s “Still The One” to her.

“She’s lovin’ it,” Swims said of his mom’s pride in his new-found fame. “A little too much,” he laughed. “She’s throwing herself out there to society like, [‘I’m his Mom’] and then says, ‘I can’t be famous, I didn’t ask for this,’ and I’m like, ‘Yes You did! Stop!’”

As Teddy looks ahead to what’s next for his music, he took a moment to highlight an artist that he thinks is about to experience a record year just like Swims did.

“ Alan Stone if you guys have never heard of him is just an absolute freak of nature,” Swims said of an up-and-coming artist who inspires him. “He’s been such a big mentor to me and he’s just out of this world.”
