Caitlin Clark's Worrying WNBA Trend Noticed By Top Sports Critic

Rookie guard Caitlin Clark was an easy target for sports media personality Skip Bayless after last Tuesday’s meeting between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces.

Clark, who scored zero points and two turnovers in the fourth quarter of the Aces game, was the subject of a scorching post on X by Bayless. The veteran journalist called out Clark for her underwhelming fourth-quarter performances in the WNBA, as highlighted anew in the 88-69 loss to Las Vegas.

“I'm sorry, but Caitlin Clark sold out another road arena, in Vegas - and once again disappeared in another 4th quarter. No offensive urgency or energy. Won't shoot. So many careless turnovers,” Bayless wrote .

“Something's not right here.”

For what it’s worth, Clark had three assists in the final period of that encounter versus the two-time defending WNBA champions. Overall, Clark finished the outing with 13 points, 11 assists and a steal while shooting 4-for-12 from the field.

It is as though Bayless used the same script in criticizing Clark as the one he often reaches for when putting his “favorite," Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James on blast.

So far this season, Clark is averaging 4.0 points and 1.8 assists in the fourth quarter.

It is up to Clark how she’ll deal with critics like Bayless. Blocking out the noise is a skill she needs to master, as the 2024 WNBA draft’s top pick overall continues to learn the ropes in the pros.
