2 firefighters injured, 13 displaced after 2 home fires in Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The day after the Fourth of July proved to be a busy night for firefighters across the Las Vegas valley as two homes were damaged by fire.

Two firefighters were injured while battling flames at a townhome in the east Las Vegas valley. A total of 13 people were displaced following the two separate fires on Friday night.

The first fire took place at 5:11 p.m. in the 400 block of Greenbriar Townhouse Way near Sandhill and East Desert Inn roads, according to the Clark County Fire Department. Smoke and flames could be seen from the first-floor patio and spread to a second-floor balcony and attic. Two CCFD firefighters had minor injuries and were treated at the scene of the fire. Nine people were displaced. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Friday night.

The second fire was reported shortly before 5:20 p.m. in the 6700 block of Oak Valley Drive near Rainbow Boulevard and Flamingo Road. Smoke and flames were reported along the front and side of a townhome and spread to the attic as well as the attic over another home unit. No injuries were reported however, four people were displaced. The fire started in the garage and the cause remained under investigation.
