Josh Jacobs' reasoning for leaving the Las Vegas Raiders doesn't make as much sense as he thinks it does

The Las Vegas Raiders had a big change happen this offseason - one that saw one of the best running backs to ever wear silver and black move on to a different team. And, that's fine. That happens all the time - all good things must come to an end eventually.

For Jacobs, last offseason the negotiation process didn't necessarily go the way he wanted it to go. He wanted a long-term deal then, and Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler didn't really want to do that. This offseason comes, and Jacobs decides to go to the Green Bay Packers on a long-term deal.

Since changing uniforms, cities, and teams, Jacobs has gotten into several Twitter battles online with Raiders fans about his reasoning for leaving. He shared with the NFL Network crew recently why that was.

"I would say one of the main reasons was just the certainty of what I’m going to get," Jacobs said. "There’s already a lot of structure. There’s already a lot of stuff in place. Having another new head coach over there [in Las Vegas], my fourth head coach while I was there, I never felt like there was any stability.

"Just to be able to come into a place where you’re not trying to pick up the pieces, and you’re not trying to build it out and see what works for us. We know what works. We’re basically just trying to execute the game plan. I think that’s the biggest difference."

Now, I’m sure that Jacobs thought that reason made sense. And, sure it does a bit. However, when you really break it down, it doesn’t make much sense. He said that the Raiders didn’t have much consistency with the coaching and front office, and that is true. He has been through several coaches now. However, going to another team is no different than the Raiders getting a new coach.

Instead of staying on the Raiders with Antonio Pierce, the head coach he had last season, he moved to another team with a head coach he had never had before. So, by going to another team, he is doing what he said he doesn’t like. And, sure, Matt LaFleur with the Green Bay Packers will be the head coach there for a while, but how do we know that Pierce won’t be in Las Vegas for a while?
