Vegas Sphere Announces First-Ever EDM Show for New Year's Eve

Following successful residencies from U2 as well as jam bands Phish and Dead & Company , the iconic Sphere venue in Las Vegas has announced its first EDM performance, which will go down on New Year's Eve. The one-night performance will be headlined by DJ and recording artist Anyma, who will be presenting an audio-visual show titled The End of Genesys .

The event will be presented by Live Nation and Afterlife Records, the label which Anyma—the solo project of DJ Matteo Milleri—co-founded along with Carmine Conte. (Conte is also the other half of the Berlin-based electronic house-techno duo Tale of Us.) The experience will be based on Anyma's albums Genesys and Genesys II , which feature guest artists including Grimes and Sevdaliza who are also likely to make appearances during the one-time show.

In conjunction with the announcement on Monday, Anyma and the Sphere revealed a trippy animation on the venue's 580,000-square-foot exterior LED display, featuring the Genesys robotic cyborg pounding from within the Sphere, eventually shattering the glass and appearing to peer out.

According to Live Nation, the performance will "showcase a meticulously curated selection of music and visual art by Anyma and Afterlife, ensuring an unforgettable and distinctive encounter."

"Sphere’s next-generation technologies—including the world’s highest-resolution LED display and its advanced concert-grade audio system, Sphere Immersive Sound, powered by HOLOPLOT—will be combined with Anyma and Afterlife’s signature production," the website states. "Fans can expect a sensory-expanding mix of innovative visuals and sounds that defy the boundaries of what’s possible."

Presale for what will likely be an in-demand New Year's Eve ticket will begin on Monday, July 22 at 9 a.m. PT, with general sales to start the following day.

In addition to The End of Genesys , other highly-anticipated events coming to the Sphere is a residency by the classic rock band The Eagles kicking off later this year; as well as the first UFC fight, which UFC president Dana White has sunk millions into , set to go down on Sept. 14, 2024.
