LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Commuters in the Las Vegas valley should expect increased police presence and road closures as President Biden visits southern Nevada for three days, law enforcement officials said Monday.

According to the release from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials, police will be working with federal law enforcement in preparation for the President’s arrival in Las Vegas. They added that extra resources have been added to each location President Biden will visit during the stop in southern Nevada.

“Motorists should prepare for road closures throughout the next three days,” the release said.

Biden’s stop in Las Vegas comes just days after Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, attempted to shoot former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in that state. According to the former President, the bullet struck Trump in the upper part of his right ear. One person was killed in the shooting, and two were injured, and last listed as in critical condition.

Since that shooting, security has become the focus around the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee . Some Secret Service officials said additional resources could be in place for the high-profile event, with enhanced security expected.

Air Force One is expected to land at the Las Vegas airport early Monday evening. LVMPD officials ask anyone in the community if they “See Something, Say Something” by reporting suspicious activity to the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center by calling 702-828-7777.
