LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas drivers should be aware of upcoming significant road restrictions in the southern part of the valley as part of a project to improve I-15.

The Nevada Department of Transportation announced extended closures and lane reductions affecting various sections of Blue Diamond Road and the I-15 Interstate.

From Tuesday, July 16 to Thursday, July 18, the Blue Diamond Road on-ramp to northbound I-15 and the eastbound Blue Diamond Road flyover ramp to northbound I-15 will be closed from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Detours will be in place via Las Vegas Boulevard to access northbound I-15 during these times.

Additionally from July 18 to July 19, the southbound I-15 will be reduced to two lanes from eastbound I-215 to Silverado Ranch Boulevard between 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The northbound I-15 will also be reduced to one lane between Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Warm Springs Road on July 19.

These measures are part of an $86 million initiative called I-15 South Project, created to improve nearly nine miles of I-15 between Sloan and Warm Springs roads, according to NDOT.

Drivers are reminded to adhere to reduced speed limits of 55 MPH within construction zones and to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.

NDOT encourages drivers to consider alternate routes and stay informed about current road conditions through resources like Waze, NDOT’s website , or by calling 511.
