On Tuesday night, Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky traveled west to face A'ja Wilson and the defending champion Las Vegas Aces. The Aces won their first matchup in the 2024 WNBA season, 94-87.

With 1:19 left in the first quarter, tragedy struck as Aces rookie Kate Martin went down with an injury. As she was driving down the court with the ball, trying to get away from a Sky defender, Martin went down and instantly grabbed at her lower leg, writhing in pain.

The injury appeared to be non-contact, which could mean serious damage for the former Iowa Hawkeyes star.

After going down, Martin's Aces teammates instantly huddled near her to make sure she was okay. She had to be helped off the court by some of the Las Vegas coaching staff.

WNBA fans are nervous about the severity of the injury and took to social media to leave their concerns.

The Aces ruled Martin out for the remainder of the game, but she did return to the bench on her own power, which is a great sign.

Martin was a second-round pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Despite the low expectations of her, she earned a significant role for the Aces off the bench. Hopefully, the injury is nothing serious.
