LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas driver was killed after allegedly speeding on a Nevada highway and crashed into a semi-truck, according to Nevada State Police.

The crash occurred on I-15 near the ramp to US 95 southbound at around 5:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 13.

According to Nevada State Police, a Bentley sedan was traveling north on I-15 exiting onto the southbound US 95 ramp. Police said the driver of the Bentley was speeding. As he attempted to negotiate a curve, it veered from the far-right lane into the left lane colliding with a 2020 International truck.

Police said the Bentley continued across the left travel lane and hit a concrete barrier wall, which caused the Bentley to overturn and eject the driver from the car. The car came to rest upright but caught on fire shortly afterward, according to a release.

Following the crash with the Bentley, the truck spun across the left shoulder and hit a concrete barrier wall, partially blocking parts of the US 95 transition ramps.

Police identified the driver of the Bentley as Khari Qiyam Cooper, 25, of Las Vegas. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Authorities are continuing to investigate this crash.

As of the 2024 year the Nevada State Police has investigated 41 fatal crashes resulting in 49 fatalities.
