Man in critical condition after shooting in central Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A security guard was shot during a struggle with shoplifters in the central Las Vegas valley.

On Saturday around 1 p.m., Metro police responded to a business in the 800 block of North Decatur Boulevard near Washington Avenue after a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police said the victim was a security guard and was struggling with shoplifters before the shooting.

He suffered a “massive head trauma” and is in critical condition at a local hospital, Metro police said.

According to police, “detectives are investigating several leads at this time.” No additional details are available at this time. Stay with 8 News Now for updates.
