Temperatures are expected to be at or above 107 degrees F each day this week in Phoenix, which means the heat index will be higher. This is not the first time this year temperatures have reached that level, and it will not be the last. In the summer of 2023, the temperature in this Arizona city was at or above 110 degrees for 54 days. Las Vegas has posted similar numbers. Climatecrisis247 believes this is the “new normal” in the summer due to climate change. Other cities like Las Vegas will be affected by similar temperatures. There will be two major consequences. The first is to human life and health. The other is financial. Parts of both cities will be shut down immediately, and air conditioning use will soar, which will cause higher electricity bills.

Global warming threatens the livelihoods and homes of millions living on or near the Andes. Massive glaciers in the areas have begun to melt rapidly. Al Jazeera says, “The Andes are an essential part of the region’s water cycle. The mountains store water as snow and ice during the winter, and it slowly melts during warmer months. They supply millions across the region with water, not only for drinking but also for agriculture, hydroelectricity and mining.” Another problem this creates is the danger from landslides and floods. Denver Investment
Two organizations in Denver will receive a total of $320 million to fight climate change. The Denver Regional Council of Governments and the Colorado Energy Office received money from the EPA Climate Pollution Grant Implementation Program. Denverite reports Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette commented,” With this funding, Denver can take a significant step towards reducing pollution, combating climate change, and securing a healthier environment for future generations.” Climatecrisis247 believes that a question about the grants is how much they can affect a city with a metro population of almost 720 million that covers 154 square miles.
Big EPA Grants
The EPA selected 25 applications through the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program to “tackle climate change, improve air quality, and advance environmental justice.” The total grant amount is $4.3 billion, and it will go to 30 states and one Tribe. According to the EPA announcement, the grants have specific targets–transportation, electric power, commercial and residential buildings, industry, agriculture/ natural and working lands, and waste and materials management. Climatecrisis247 believes that the scope of the investment is large enough to affect climate change in some cities. As is always the case with grants of this magnitude, which are hard to track, the issue will be implemented. Money has started to help cities that include Buffalo and Nashville.
