LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Goodwill of Southern Nevada recognized Disability Pride Month this July by highlighting its programs for individuals with disabilities.

Partnering with Nevada Vocational Rehabilitation and Clark County School District, Goodwill offers various programs to support participants and caregivers.

These programs include Student Work Experience, where special education students volunteer weekly at designated stores for two hours, gaining valuable exposure to real work settings. Another initiative is the Community Based Training program which will evaluate participants’ current skills and provide additional training to enhance their employability.

“July is Disability Pride Month, an opportunity to honor the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community,” Goodwill wrote in a press release Tuesday.

This year marks the 34th anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which aims to prevent discrimination against individuals with disabilities.
