LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — The newest resort on the Las Vegas Strip landed a spot on TIME Magazine’s 2024 edition of its annual list of greatest places.

After 20 years in the making, Fontainebleau Las Vegas opened its doors to the public on Dec. 13, 2023. Seven months later, the 67-story tower made the magazine’s list of 100 extraordinary destinations to explore.

“This accolade is a testament to our incredible MEMBERS and Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ commitment to luxury, sophistication, and extraordinary service,” Fontainebleau Las Vegas President Maurice Wooden said in a release. “TIME’s ‘World’s Greatest Places’ list is a celebration of must-experience destinations around the globe, and it is an honor to be included.”

The annual list started in 2018 and focuses on locations that offer new and exciting experiences. To create the list, TIME’s international correspondents and contributors submitted nominations in addition to an application process.

While the 2023 list featured 50 cities, the 2024 list expanded to feature 100 “specific establishments that stand out in their field, and the world,” including Fontainebleau.

“Along with Sphere , the $2.3 billion music venue that opened off-Strip last autumn, featuring the largest LED screen with the highest resolution in the world, Fontainebleau is pulling the city’s center of gravity further northward, away from its traditional epicenter,” TIME Magazine wrote about the resort .

Other places found on the list include the Highland Base in Kerlingarfjoll, Iceland, Casa Lucia in Buenos Aires, CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, and the Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan, China. The full list can be found here .

Las Vegas has previously made the list twice. In 2019, t he Empathy Suite at Palms Casino Resort graced the list and in 2021, the city of Las Vegas made the list for excess and innovation.
