Lewis was fatally assaulted on November 1 last year following a disagreement over a vape pen and wireless headphones.

His alleged killers have accepted a plea deal that would allow them to be tried in a juvenile court if they plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

The four teenagers were initially charged as adults with murder and conspiracy following the death of the Rancho High School student.

Damien Hernandez, Dontral Beaver, Gianni Robinson, Treavion Randolph were all under the age of 18 when the alleged crime took place.

This deal, announced during a hearing on Thursday, would allow them to avoid an adult trial and an adult jail, if they had been found guilty.

Lewis’ mother, Mellisa Ready, said she was shocked when she discovered the Clark County District Attorney decision, according to CBS affiliate KLAS-TV .

“You cannot jump in a human being’s head, stomp on him, and think that they’re going to remain alive after,” Ready said.

“They knew he was going to die, and that’s how I feel – and they’re letting them get away with murder.”

The heartbroken mother questioned the legal system and the decision.

“There is no justice for my son Jonathan Lewis, that was stomped to death and murdered while 20 people stood there and did nothing more than film it and broadcast it to social media,” she said.

The mother claimed that she was not notified about Thursday’s hearing and revealed how she would have reacted to it.

“I was told that they were going to plea guilty to murder and that the most they would get in the adult system is two years,” the mother said.

“I would’ve disagreed with the deal entirely. They should be accountable as adults – they made an adult choice,” she added.

The terms of the deal are collective, therefore if any of the four alleged killers back out of the plea they will all be charged in an adult court.

    Jonathan Lewis's case

The 17-year-old Las Vegas student tragically died after he was attacked by a mob of his own classmates

Jonathan Lewis , a student at Rancho High School, had joined a disagreement his friend had over vape pen and wireless headphones.

A mass brawl ensued in an alley outside of the school on November 1, 2023.

Shocking videos captured Lewis as he was beaten and stomped on by a crowd of his own classmates.

The teen died a week later from the injuries he sustained that day.

Nine teenagers were arrested in relation to his death.

Four of these people were initially charged as adults but they accepted a guilty manslaughter plea deal to be charged as juveniles.

Another four of these teens pleaded guilty in juvenile court to voluntary manslaughter.

One of the suspects is yet to be sentenced.

Lewis’ parents have shared their heartbreak and anger following their son’s death.

In November, his distraught father broke his silence and revealed he could not watch the videos of his son’s attack

His mother shared her anger following the plea deal and said there had been “no justice” for her son.

    HORRIFYING VIDEO

The fatal attack on Lewis was captured on video from multiple mobile phones.

These students had agreed to meet in an alley just outside of their school to fight over two items allegedly stolen from Lewis’ friend, authorities in Las Vegas said.

The disturbing video showed how a group of teens stomped on Lewis’ head as he seemed to become unconscious.

These sickening videos then went viral online.

He died a week later as a result of the injuries sustained in the attack.

His father, Jonathan Lewis Sr, spoke out at the time about these clips of his son, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

“I can’t watch the video of my son beaten to death, no,” he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal .

    FURTHER ARRESTS

Five other teenagers were arrested at the time of the attack.

Four of these teens, including a 13-year-old boy, pleaded guilty in juvenile court to voluntary manslaughter, while one is yet to be sentenced.

A teenager facing a murder charge, in Nevada, can be charged as an adult if they were 13 or older when the crime occurred.
