There has been a ton of speculation surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders possibly trading wide receiver Davante Adams this offseason, especially when it pertains to his potential landing spot being with the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers.

So, naturally, general manager Tom Telesco was asked about Adams' future while he was a guest on the "Scoop City" podcast with NFL Insider Dianna Russini, and former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel.

Telesco stressed how important Adams is to the Raiders right now and told the hosts to refer to his agents' statement from earlier this month when it comes to Adams being dealt. Telesco adds that he isn't focused on anything beyond 2024, though, which is his standard operating procedure at this point in the offseason.

"If you ever need a statement, just copy and paste Frank Bauer's statement," he said. "As far as future, future, once we hit training camp for everybody, we're all focused on the field. I'm not worried about contracts, I'm not worried about 2025, 2026, 2027 right now, it's all 2024. We need Davante right now. Whoever our starting quarterback is, is going to need the help of those guys, the receivers, the tight ends, the running backs. So having Davante here is a big deal for us."

The statement Telesco is referring to completely shot down any idea of a trade, which only ramped up after the Netflix docuseries "Receiver" in which an irate Adams was shown questioning his future in Las Vegas during the 2023 campaign.

"This is baseless, unfounded speculation, and Davante is expected to be with the Raiders as there has been absolutely no trade talk -- period," Adams' agents said.

The idea that the Raiders would ever trade Adams before the start of the season has always been silly. After all, Las Vegas needs him ahead of a season in which the Raiders have playoff aspirations. Not to mention, Adams has made it clear he wants to be in Las Vegas .

"If I wanted to be gone, I'd be gone by now," Adams told reporters earlier this offseason. "This is where I want to be."

If the Raiders were to trade Adams in 2024, it would come at the trade deadline, which falls a few days after Week 9. However, the Raiders would have to be a complete mess and out of playoff contention by that point for them to even consider moving Adams.

Not impossible, but not likely, either, given the Raiders have a talented roster that should remain in playoff content all season long.

Things will get really interesting next offseason. Adams has two more years left on his deal, but doesn't have any guaranteed money. The veteran wideout will almost certainly be looking for that to change, and at that point the Raiders will have to decide if they want to oblige a receiver who would be turning 33 in December.
