ATLANTA, GA —As part of its commitment to conservation and the outdoors, Georgia Power invites Georgians to spend summer vacation in its parks and lakes.

About 100,000 acres of land and 60,000 surface acres of water are maintained for years to make it able to access and be recreational facilities.

To easily find spots to explore or relax at one of the company’s recreational properties, you can visit its website here.

Many of the company’s recreational properties offer boating, fishing, swimming, hiking trails, picnic areas, and campgrounds. You can purchase to either day use or annual passes. With a pass, you will have access to all these facilities and more.

The camping spot is also easy to reserve. You can see the availability and site facilities on the website and selecting the dates to visit on the calendar.

To get more details of each lake’s offerings you can check out this link.

It’s important to be noted that all visitors have to put safety on top of other things. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health and SPLASH, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children ages 1 to 4.

These tips from SPLASH are recommended to follow by anyone when enjoying beaches, pools, lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water:

    1. Supervision – Watch children all the time.
    2. Prevention – Wear PDF, life jacket, or other personal flotation devices.
    3. Look before you leap – Acknowledge how deep the water is and what is below the surface before jump to the water.
    4. Arm’s Length – Adults should be arm’s length to children in water.
    5. Swim Lessons – Knowing how to swim can greatly reduce the chance of drowning.
    6. Have a Water Safety Plan – Know what to do during an emergency.
