    Fire Museum tour in Marietta

    2021-08-07

MARIETTA, GA — Fire Museum is one of the historical museums in Marietta. This museum offers an opportunity to discover and learn the history of the Marietta Fire Department. You can choose to self-guided tour or schedule a guided tour in this museum.

To schedule a guided tour, you will have to fill the Fire Education Request Form on their website at least one week prior to the visit schedule. After filling the form, their personnel will contact you to confirm your request tour within 2-3 business days.

There is no admission fee to enter the museum and if you want to buy merch while visiting this museum, there are several souvenirs available, including t-shirt and mugs.

Please notes you may schedule a tour for your special day, but the museum does not offer facilities to host special events, including birthday parties.

For a visit from groups associated with Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, the Marietta Fire Department will give its best support, including by assisting with badge requirements and answering any questions from anyone in the group.

What you can find in the museum includes the 1921 American La France 500 GPM Pumper, one of the first motorized fire apparatus in North Georgia, and the 1879 Silsby Steamer the one used before being replaced with the 1921 American La France Pumper.

You can also find the Wall of Flame, a photo gallery of some documentations of the worst catastrophes in Marietta History, including the Atherton Drug Store natural gas explosion in 1963, the United Plastic Fire in 1981, the Navy Corsair A-7 Jet Crash in 1989, and the Gasoline Tanker Fire in 1971.
