Four upcoming events in September at Oakland Cemetery

    2021-08-23

ATLANTA, GA — Historic Oakland Foundation offers various special events for you in September. These events are held not only to introduce Oakland Cemetery’s beautiful and historic 48 acres, but also to support their mission to maintain Oakland Cemetery as a sanctuary for education, recreation, history, and inspiration.

    1. Love Stories of Oakland

This event is a 75-minute special tour that will guide you walk through Oakland’s Victorian Garden cemetery while remembering the Atlantans of days past. You will see the symbolism of love on monuments across the grounds as well as stories of devotion that extend into the afterlife. This tour will be held on September 10 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

    2. 14th Annual Run Like Hell 5K

This event is the largest cemetery run in the nation and one of Atlanta’s favorite neighborhood 5K fundraisers. This year, the event will be held virtually from September 24 through October 8 and in-person on October 9 at 9:00 am. Runners of all levels are welcome to join the race. Everyone also has the chance to earn awards and prizes during the event.

    3. Fall Plant Sale

This event will offer you a wide-range selection of interesting and rare plants. The sale will be held on September 25 at Oakland Cemetery’s Beaumont Allen Greenhouse. To prevent customers from having to wait in long lines, you have to reserve a time slot between these three times: 9:00 am to 10:30 am, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, and 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

    4. Sunday in the Park ft Tunes from the Tombs

This 43rd annual event will be held on Sunday, September 26 from 12:00 pm to 7:30 pm featuring the annual Tunes from the Tombs music festival. In this event, you can enjoy music performances, try plenty of delicious food trucks’ dishes, and shop various products from the artist market vendors.
