Adler Planetarium updates hours for summer season

The Planetarium will open its Tuesday and Thursday hours to curious visitors and Illinois residents ready to explore science with shows and plenty of hands-on activities.

CHICAGO — On May 23, it was announced that the Adler Planetarium would update its public hours starting May 26 to include Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am–4:00 pm, previously reserved for school groups only.

According to a press release, the Adler will be open every day from 9:00 am–4:00 pm except Wednesdays. Wednesday hours will remain 4:00 pm–10:00 pm for Adler at Night.

As students and families say, "Goodbye school, hello Summer," the updated hours allow Illinois residents and visitors to explore science with hands-on activities and new shows during various times. Another opportunity to witness Pink Floyd's new full-dome, The Dark Side Of The Moon, was added to its Wednesday evening Adler at Night Sky show offerings.

It will play as the last show of the night in both the Grainger Sky Theater (9:10 pm) and the Star Theater (9:15 pm) starting May 31.

During Adler at Night (every Wednesday from 4:00 pm–10:00 pm), Illinois residents receive free general admission with a valid ID; however, you'd pay a fee if you plan to see The Dark Side of the Moon.

Tickets are $20, available online, and must be purchased in advance. If you're an Adler Star Pass ticket holder, the show is already included in your all-access pass. The Dark Side of the Moon is approximately 30 minutes.
