With the proposition of a blockbuster trade that would send 14 time All Star, two-time NBA Champion and 2013-2014 MVP Kevin Durant to the Minnesota Timberwolves. That same trade would send Karl-Anthony Towns to Phoenix and end his nine-year reign in Minnesota. This is my reaction to the trade, and it’s not a report!

The Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled to win games in the playoffs. Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett lost to Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004. This past season, the Timberwolves lost a not-very-competitive series to the Dallas Mavericks. What both of these teams lacked was just one more player to get the job done. Adding a star like Brandon Ingram to a team that has lacked wing play in this past season, could make the Wolves the title favorites.

The news comes right after the team placed starting catcher Patrick Bailey on the injured list with a strained oblique. In Bailey’s absence, San Francisco will turn to Curt Casali and Jakson Reetz behind the plate. However, both offer little offensively and fit best in backup or organizational depth roles. With the Giants clinging to its postseason odds, signing Diaz and hip upside might be necessary to avoid falling out of the National League Wild Card race.
