It seems that the two sides have been working on an agreement after Panathinaikos’ interest in Yurtseven was reported weeks ago. It now comes to fruition with Yurtseven inking a two-year deal with the second year including an NBA-out clause.</p><h2>Omer Yurtseven Inks a Two-Year Deal with Panathinaikos</h2><p>Omer Yurtseven has definitely made a significant career move by signing with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos in the aftermath of being waived by the Utah Jazz on July 1st. This decision definitely marks a new chapter in Yurtseven’s journey. Yurtseven’s tenure in the NBA has seen its share of ups and downs. The Turkish big man faced limited opportunities with the Jazz, where their crowded front court left him struggling for minutes. In 11.4 minutes per game, Yurtseven posted averages of 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds. Yurtseven spent the previous two years of his three-year career with the Miami Heat. His decision to sign with Greek Powerhouse reflects a desire for more playing time and a bigger role. Panathinaikos can certainly provide him with this and I’m told this is something Yurtseven definitely values.</p><h2>The Turkish Big Man Had NBA Interest</h2><p>Despite his departure from the NBA, Yurtseven remained a player that garnered interest from multiple teams. Most notably the New York Knicks who I first reported in early August expressed interest in the free agent big man. Approximately two weeks after my report, Marc Stein of TheSteinLine reported that Yurtseven auditioned with the Knicks. If he showcases great play with the Greek club surely NBA personnel will pursue him next summer promising a bigger role the next time around. Crucially the Turkish big man has an NBA-out clause.
