Influential early Moscow resident and University of Idaho graduate Clara Ransom will be discussed. Crews continue to make progress on the 1,564 acre Texas Fire burning near Kendrick in Latah and Nez Perce Counties. Fire Operations reported containment at 10% last night, as control lines along portions of the fire are reasonably expected to stop the fire from spreading further. Yesterday (Thur), firefighters patrolled constructed fire line, addressing areas of remaining heat and improving fire line as needed. Throughout the day, helicopter-resources assisted firefighters on the-ground with bucket drops to cool areas of active fire, allowing work to occur directly on the fire’s edge. Yesterday, new fire starts within the geographic area re-committed local initial attack resources, including helicopters.
Texas Fire Near Kendrick Human Caused-Blaze 10% Contained-Holding Steady At 1,500 Acres
The Texas Fire East of Kendrick that destroyed four homes was human caused. Investigators with Idaho Department of Lands, the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office and Latah County Sheriff’s Deputies determined that there was nothing criminal or malicious about how the fire started. That’s according to the Public Information Office with the new incident team that’s managing the fire.

Texas Ridge Fire burns 1,500 acres, forces evacuations in north Idaho
The Texas Ridge Fire has burned more than 1,500 acres northeast of Lewiston and destroyed ten structures since it was first discovered Monday afternoon. On Tuesday, the Latah County Sheriff’s Office advised residents to immediately evacuate a large area northeast of Kendrick, and told others nearby to be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice.

The wildfire burning East of Kendrick has destroyed four homes. The 1,500 acre Texas Fire East of town has torched four homes and six outbuildings. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. It started on Monday afternoon in the Potlatch River Canyon and has burned up Texas and Cedar Ridges.
