UPDATE AT 6:26 P.M.: Wildfire near Kendrick has prompted evacuation of area around Texas Ridge Road
People in the areas of Cedar Ridge, Texas Ridge and Linden down to Idaho Highway 3 have been advised to evacuate because of the Texas Fire, according to the Latah County Sheriff's Office. Texas Ridge is closed. The fire is spreading into Nez Perce County.
Fire leads to evacuation near Kendrick
KENDRICK — A wildfire that prompted an evacuation and sent a huge plume of smoke into the sky ignited Monday afternoon in Latah County near Kendrick. The Texas Fire grew to 150 acres east of Kendrick as of 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Idaho Department of Lands, although fire activity decreased some in the evening as temperatures cooled. The fire was at 0% containment as of 9:40 p.m., according to an updated news release from the department. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.

BOISE, Idaho — The trial date for Bryan Kohberger, the suspect in the University of Idaho student homicides, is set. But where the trial may be held is still undecided. Judge John Judge of Idaho’s 2nd Judicial District in Latah County at a hearing Thursday scheduled Kohberger’s murder trial for June of next year and planned for a three-month long trial.
