West Branch working to get “one percent better” with a young team and new coach
MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (KCRG) - A young, new-look West Branch team will have a new coach this season. John Nestor Sr. comes from Chicago, where he’s been on staff at several big high schools in Illinois, as well as the University of Wisconsin, but he says football fundamentals are the same.
Loggers Sweep on the Day
The Logger's Volleyball team started off their 2024 season opener with a nail-biting, 5 set win over North Iowa Area Community College in the Opening Weekend Tournament. Peyton Bergschneider finished the match with a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs. Adi White tacked on 12 more kills for the Loggers. Ella Kinkelaar contributed 10 digs, with help from Kaylee Abens with 9. Setter Hailee Daigh put up 22 assists, followed by Ella Kinkelaar with 13.
Miller-Meeks aids in securing nearly $1.5 million award for UI
U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, helped obtain nearly $1.5 million of congressional funding disbursed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Two Hurt in Monona County Crash
(Monona County) Two people suffered injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 29. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 7:31 a.m. on Saturday on southbound Interstate 80 in Monona County. The victims are identified as 49-year-old Juan Cardenas Chavez of Denison and 64-year-old Theodore Armstrong of Belmont, North Carolina.
