Scotland County deputies recover multiple stolen guns, arrest 52-year-old man

SCOTLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — Scotland County authorities arrested a 52-year-old man on Sunday after they recovered multiple stolen guns and narcotics from a home in Laurel Hill.

Vernon Scott Norton of Laurel Hill was charged with possession of stolen firearms by a convicted felon and taken to the Scotland County Detention Center. He is being held without bond, and additional charges are pending.

Deputies said some of the guns they recovered were stolen from Cliff Gibson Road on Tuesday. Authorities searched the home on Rockingham Road in Laurel Hill early Sunday morning after getting information on Saturday that some of the stolen items were there.
