Huskers to host 2026 defensive back next weekend
A class of 2026 recruit has scheduled a visit to Nebraska next weekend. JJ Dunnigan is a 6-foot-2 defensive back from Manhattan High School in Manhattan, KS. Dunnigan will be in Lincoln on July 27 to meet new defensive backs coach John Butler. Butler is taking over for Evan Cooper, who resigned last week for personal reasons. The new Cornhusker coach is excited to continue his career at Nebraska. “I am excited to join Coach Rhule, this staff, and the great tradition of Nebraska Football and the Blackshirt Defense. I look forward to working with our players to develop them as players, students, and young men, Day by Day!” The 6-foot-2 Dunnigan is currently considering Nebraska, Kansas State, Kansas, and Colorado State. Fremont, Nebraska - You may have heard the phrase before: "When there is a Full Moon, strange things happen". Well, there was a Full Moon over Historic Moller Field Saturday night....and strange things happened. The Fremont Moo had a four run lead evaporate. Then, Fremont trailed by three runs going into the bottom of the ninth....and came back to win 11-10, on a walk-off rbi single by Isaac Bonner, which snapped The Moo's three-game losing streak.
Bow Seniors Pick Up Doubleheader Sweep of O’Neill
In their final regular season tune up before the area tournament, the Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team traveled to O’Neill Sunday for a doubleheader. In game one, Broken Bow used a seven run second inning to key a 15-2 victory in a game that was shortened to five innings on the five run rule. Bow’s 15 runs came on 10 hits. Kayden Record and Brycen Woodward each had a multi hit game in the win. Record was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI while Woodward went 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored and 1 RBI. Max Denson pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up no runs on no hits while striking out six. Caenyn Priest pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 1 hit and striking out five.
UNK women’s soccer aim to expand recruiting base by hosting regional camp
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Lopers program hosted an identification camp at Cope Stadium on Saturday with dozens of athletes in attendance from nine different states. The camp provides an opportunity for UNK to scout several players at once, while giving the athletes a chance to prove themselves against high level competition.

Utility and Light Poles Were Damaged in Storm Lake Accident Late Last Week
An accident that involved multiple vehicles caused significant damage and disruption on Friday afternoon in Storm Lake. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, several utility and light poles were struck and severed, which led to power outages across many neighborhoods. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and Storm Lake Fire Department assisted in redirecting traffic and blocking streets where power lines were down. The Storm Lake Public Works Department installed four-way stop signs at intersections that lost traffic signals. MidAmerican Energy worked late into the evening on Friday replacing power poles and utility lines.

Managers of an Iowa Great Lakes amusement park have set a $50,000 for a benefit concert to help Spencer residents impacted by flooding. Jon Pausley is executive director of Arnolds Park, which is on the shore of West Lake Okoboji. “All of us in northwest Iowa got affected somehow by all of this floooding, but we were very fortunate here at Arnolds Park to really just have minor inconveniences as compared to many people down in Spencer who were just devastated,” he says, “and we certainly wanted to do something to help our neighbors to the south.”
